About the event
Tim Beattie and Daniel Hamin Go formed their duo when they met at the Royal Conservatory of Music’s
Rebanks Family Fellowship and International Performance Residency Program and discovered a shared
passion for the cello and guitar in ensemble and an interest in bringing classical music to a wider
audience. Canadian guitarist Tim Beattie is a first-prize winner of the Brussels International Guitar
Competition, and has performed on stages at the Banff Centre, the Bath Festival, the Perth Summer
Festival, the UN Climate Conference in Glasgow and many others. Dedicated to blurring the lines
between musical idioms and genres, he has collaborated with actor Tucker St. Ivany and filmmaker
Rossyln McCormick, and is a co-founder of the innovative guitar quartet Malamitana. Korean-born
cellist Daniel Hamin Go received his bachelor’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music and his
masters from the Hochschule für Musik 'Hans Eisler' in Berlin, and, as a recipient of the prestigious
Bicentenary Award and the Drake Calleja Trust Award, completed an Advanced Diploma at London’s
Royal Academy of Music. Go has performed widely in North America and Europe, having appeared in
concert halls such as the Berliner Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall, Cadogan Hall in London and Flagey
Studios in Brussels. He plays on a late seventeenth-century Cremonese cello by Francesco Ruggeri,
generously on loan from a private collection.
